The Old Gods

You decide to find the Disappearing Library. You have to fill out your TBR anyway, but there's something more you feel you need. This sudden turn of events is odd, and no one suspected the disgruntled demon of anything. How did it happen? Why were people trying to contact these beings for so long? What do they even want?

The Disappearing Library has a vast collection of books read by summoners for centuries, if not millennia. There has to be something here.

The Library Demon flits every which way through the library, helping those who are searching for things to read and also keeping the library from stressing. And the library is stressed. The walls aren't straight, and the shelves lean to one side. Books fall from everywhere, and the lights all around aren't giving off the right amount of light despite how bright they look.

"Hi welcome to the library take a look around sorry I'm SO BUSSSYYYYYYY!!" the Library Demon yells at you just as they catch an entire shelf from falling down.

You go over to help the tiny demon and put all the books back on the shelf. The demon sniffles and wipes their eyes as you take the stack of books from their arms. The Library Demon is much stronger than they look, but it seems even this is getting to them. You ask if they're okay, and they shake their head violently no.

"The Ledger demon?" they say. "H-he was my friend. For so many years. Centuries, even." They sniffle and their lips tremble. "He doesn't speak, you know, but we understood each other. We had adventures and-and-and--" They start to wail and fly into your chest. You hold the little demon, no bigger than a cat. "I can't believe all these years he was just a... I don't know. I don't know what he was."

You don't either, but you want to reassure the Library Demon. Maybe there's something you can say? What do you even call what that thing was? You don't want to make them feel bad about the friendship what was, but how do you talk about something that doesn't even have a name?
